If you keep track of me at all (that'd be all... well, zero of you!) you'd know I'm keeping my personal blog, www.shawnw.org, somewhat updated (but not as often as I'd like). I've also just started up a tech blog called Ledgeio at www.ledgeio.com, so if you get a moment, go check it out.
I'm really posting to bring some attention to my wife's blog, hosted here at Vox, which you can see at lesswendy.vox.com. She's been doing a great job of sticking with her weight loss plan... now she only needs to post to her blog more!
Our dog, Jasmine, will be nine years old this December. Her nickname is "the puppy", because she seems to have never really grown out of acting like a puppy. She still runs around like a nut, does crazy puppy-like things, and is generally a spazoid (except when she's sleeping).
This morning was much like any other morning as I made my way down to my truck to head to work. My wife, Wendy, was leaving as well (actually, leaving for work means stopping by the local coffee shop on Wednesdays cause it's Highlander Grog day!) so we said our goodbyes and she pulled out. I got in my truck and started it, and looked up to the house.
We have a large picture window across the front of the house, and the bottom of the window is a couple feet off the ground. I could see the curtain was barely parted, and sticking up at the bottom of the window, just so I could see them and nothing else were two black ears. I turned on my headlights and Jas' eyes glowed. Day in and day out, she's there, watching us leave.
Not because she loves us, though. The moment we're gone, she raids the bathroom trash looking for any little piece of paper she can take into the family room and shred to bits on the floor.
I love that dog.
Just a note that I'll be posting some stuff over at shawnw.org as well, so feel free to stop by anytime!
Some solid entertainment for you on this Friday!
Today's reading is from the 70th Psalm.
4 Let those on the hunt for you
sing and celebrate.
Let all who love your saving way
say over and over, "God is mighty!"
Today's reading also included some Ezekiel and Revelation, but I didn't really find a whole lot to comment on there. In fact, I'm having a hard time commenting on the verses I have quoted above, but they just stuck with me.
What's up everybody? Long time no see post. Fall's just around the corner here in Indiana. Temps have been in the mid-seventies all week, which has been a pleasant change from the heatwave that was present for most of August
How's things by you? Things have been crazy busy on this end. A friend and I are launching a Blogs network that could be considered unusual in how we plan on increasing the size of the network. Add this link to your favorites and check back often; I think you'll like what we've got planned.
What's on your slate for this weekend? The wif and I are dropping Kels off at her Aunt's for the weekend, and we plan on hitting up Chevy's while in Champaign, IL (the drop-off point). Then, we'll probably have a somewhat lazy Saturday heading into a way busy Sunday. Craig Gross and JR Mahon from the Starving Jesus tour are stopping in at church to speak on Sunday evening. We'll be concluding the gathering about an hour early to go out into the community and serve, so it should be a neato Sunday. Monday will see us heading back to Champaign to pick Kels back up. Then, I think we're grilling brats for supper. Should be a swanky weekend.
Seriously, what have you got going on?
I took a walk this afternoon because the weather is just so fantabulous, and in my walk I heard several reminders of why the church has a long way to go when it comes to showing the love of Jesus to others, so they in turn can practice it in their own lives.
On my walk, I heard a mom and daughter arguing in their house (windows open is why I could hear; I'm not a stalker), a family sitting in their front yard yelling at their child to quit riding his bike for some undisclosed reason. Three different houses in our neighborhood have some late teens, early twentysomethings living in them, and the language pouring out of there wasn't for anyone under the age of... well, it really wasn't for anyone to hear.
Sure, this isn't a sign that the world is coming to an end by any means, but none of this was spoken out of love for others. It's selfishness, guilt, pride, and unchecked emotions that some adults don't know how to deal with, let alone the children they're yelling at.
What did that Beatle say? "All we need is love..."
It's not often a video of such magnitude comes along, so without further ado, the cutest video ever. Period.
When was the last time you had to speak in front of a group? How did you feel?
Actually, just this past Sunday. I'm part of the leadership at church ( www.exchangemcc.org ) and I did announcements in front of 500 or so people. I'm actually leading worship this Sunday, so who knows how that'll go!
Ok, I'm not saying I have all the answers, but this is a great list of things that'll help you get your name out there.
